PMP ‘vindicated’ by winning Target distribution contract

The contract will be managed through PMP Distribution’s Victorian headquarters in the Melbourne suburb of Clayton. PMP Distribution general manager David Chesser described the deal as a “watershed moment in PMP Distribution’s history”.

“The Target catalogue distribution contract is one of the biggest to come up for tender in Australia this year and is an incredibly important win for PMP Distribution,” he said.

“Our appointment demonstrates our resurgence and shows we can deliver competitive and customer focused solutions, distribution services and facilities that customers such as Target demand.”

PMP chief executive Richard Allely (pictured) said the win was a vindication for the company’s investment in a fresh management team at PMP Distribution.

Over the last year, the company has actively restructured its management team, including the appointment of Chesser and executive general manager Andrew Williams.

“This transfer of knowledge and experience to PMP has paid off and sets the platform for PMP to cement its leadership position in the catalogue distribution sector into the future,” Allely said.

Last month, PMP Distribution revealed an EBIT decline of 65.7% to $1.5m for the second half of 2009, with the company attributing the trend to “losing touch with its customers, forfeiting their trust and consequently losing market share.”

Last year, the company was also forced to own up to “irregularities” in its Distribution business, admitting it had supplied customers with incorrect delivery statistics, following an inquiry by the ACCC.
