Prime Minister invites PIAA head to Future Jobs Forum

Healey is one of 80 representatives from business, unions, government and academia at Parliament House today.

The event will feature a number of speakers, including Andrew Liveris, chief executive of $54bn-turnover Dow Chemical.

Healey told ProPrint that the exclusive invitation could be taken as a positive sign of the association’s relationship with the Federal government.

“The fact we are there enhances our profile and the importance of our industry,” he said.

He added that he was interested to see what the government will have to say about the diversification of the printing industry.

“We do have excess capacity and we are seeing long-time operators who want to move out of the industry. I will certainly be interested to hear if the government will help the industry.”

Prime Minister Julia Gillard said: “The Future Jobs Forum will provide an important opportunity to discuss how Australia can build on its outstanding record of economic growth and job creation, and best position our nation to benefit from the changing global economy.”
