Printers buying Graph-Pak laminators

October proved a bonza month for Graph-Pak with the company supplying seven commercial and trade printers with laminators in a $1.5m splurge. Graph-Pak managing director Tom Ralph says, “Printers are upgrading from low quality equipment to the high quality Autobond and D&K systems. They are telling me they need the quality of the product, and they need the reliability that these systems provide.” Four printers put in Autobond laminators, with two opting for D&K and one going for the digital spot UV Autobond. Ralph says, “D&K laminators are for companies that will be laminating for an hour or two each shift. At $50,000 they represent great value for money and will deliver that high quality finish that is way over anything a desktop or low quality system will provide. We have now installed 35 over the past four years, which is evidence of their popularity among Australian printers.”

“The Autobond laminators are the heavy duty systems designed for virtually continuous performance. Although they represent a higher capex than the lower quality systems they are less expensive to run, as you don’t need expensive films, because with up to nine tonnes of pressure coming down quality is assured.” The digital spot UV Autobond works from digital files, and can lay down an 80 micron UV ink which Ralph says ‘is 3D’. The digital spot UV system can also lay down foil on toner.
