Printers urge cancer car rally support

Printers are invited to join Look print CEO David Leach and Tony Kenny from Poster Candy for a fun filled slot car frenzy on Sunday February 7 to support cancer research.

The day is to highlight their entry into the Mackay to Hobart Shitbox car rally, which takes place three months later, to raise funds for the Cancer Council of Australia. With one in two Australian men and one in three women predicted to have cancer by the age of 85 research is crucial to understanding the disease.

Shitbox Rally raises over $1,000,000 each year to support the Cancer Council in their tireless work with cancer patients. For further information, visit www.shitboxrally.com.au.

Leach says, “After getting our toes wet in the Shitbox Rally's mad baby brother 'The Mystery Box Rally' last year, we've decided to do it all again bigger, longer and harder in the ShitBox Rally going from Mackay to Hobart to help the Cancer Council save the lives of thousands.

“Our Team vehicle, DrewLander, is named after Drew, our ten-year-old Australian Kelpie, with a touch of Zoolander fancy dress.

The car itself is a 1996 Camry Leach and Kenny have scavenged, which comes with a very dubious service history, tired suspension, no cup holders and no air-conditioning.

Leach says, “We'll be one of about 250 cars for seven days taking part in the driving challenge. Starting in Mackay on May 7 we’ll then bounce our way over backward dirt roads none of us have ever heard of all the way to Hobart, crossing the Tasman in the Spirit of Tasmania.

.The slot car frenzy will run from 11am for 12 noon race starts. Leach says, “Bring your family and friends. The more the merrier.”

Entry is only $100 per adult. (Extra donations graciously accepted). All food, beverages, games and prizes are donated so 100 per cent of your donations go to Shitbox Rally. Kids under 18 are free, and all donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Leach says, “As the Shitbox Rally is truly a car rally we have decide to hold a car themed fundraiser called 'The Shitbox Challenge' where all our friends who say they are not competitive (you know who you are) can battle it out over four hours of Slot Car Racing on a 6 meter x 2.4 meter computerised race track (undercover) to claim bragging rights – as well as some memorable prizes.

“Other games could include BasketBall Goals, Bowling at Stumps, Sack Race (4 up), “Throwing the Plastic Glass, Plank Race (4 up) and/or Footy Tyre Kick. See, something for every age, ability and condition. Guaranteed you’ll win a prize!

“Enjoy fabulous food (a variety of world famous French dipped sandwiches), drenching drinks (soft drinks, beer, sparkling and still red and white, more beer and more soft drinks), all included in your donation for the day.

“Join us at the starting line of the Shitbox Challenge, help fight cancer and help us reach the starting line of the  2016 Shitbox Rally achieving our goal of raising $12,000 for fighting cancer.
