Private training group adds pre-press course along with print and finishing

Spectra, which was formerly known as CLB Training & Development, has introduced a pre-press apprenticeship to sit alongside its printing and finishing courses.

The Certificate III pre-press course covers colour management, workflow management, plate making, digital printing, graphic design, illustrations, photography, scanning, retouching, proofing, and page layout and imposition.

Lead pre-press trainer Trever Thomas said: "Our courses have a strong focus on colour management. As our industry increases attention on automated workflows, higher skills in colour management knowledge will allow operators to develop and manage a strong workflow."

Spectra chief executive Gary Cobbledick said: "This course has been developed following consultation with printing industry representatives. With print training staff across Australia, Spectra Training has proactively started to address gaps in training for the printing industry."

Spectra said its trainers specialise in lithography, flexography, gravure, heatset and coldset web, wide-format and flatbed digital, as well as general commercial, labels and packaging.
