Radio star to host PICAs

PICA entries are almost due in Victoria and New South Wales as Victoria confirmed its awards would be hosted by a popular radio presenter.

New South Wales entries are due by 23 September, with the awards dinner to be held on 6 December at the Sofitel Sydney Wentworth.

Victoria is accepting entries until 13 September. The presentation night will be held on 8 November at the Sofitel Melbourne on Collins and will be hosted by 3AW presenter Darren James.

PICA Victoria chairman Trevor Hone said James was a "talk legend" and "would really get tongues wagging about the PICAs".

"Print is powerful, effective and sustainable, and every year we see fantastic examples of how it can be used in extraordinary ways in the marketing mix," added Hone.

"A PICA or National Print Award gives you a chance to promote your print credentials and start a conversation about the possibilities of print with clients and potential clients – plus, it’s a chance to 'print your competition under the table', which is always a bit of fun."

Hone warned printers to be careful with their entries.

"Our judges have told us in the past of entries that failed to make the cut because of simple mistakes such as small printing faults, damage or incorrect or incomplete information," he said.

"Taking time to select and carefully check entries, double check the details on your entry form and package everything securely can make all the difference."
