Roland celebrates 30 years

Roland celebrated its 30 year anniversary at Pier One in Sydney, inviting customers and employees, on Friday night.

John Wall, CEO, Roland DG Australia, gave a speech on the night, thanking dealers, customers and employees, and noting the strong performance of the Australian team on a global scale.

Wall says, “Roland DG would not be where it is now without its partners, and employees both here tonight, and those from the past, present, and also the future.

“The DNA of Roland DG is the passion of the people within it, the drive, and personal perseverance to deliver a product and service to the industry that can not be touched by our competitors.

“It is about being the best, and not the biggest. I have been with Roland for 14 of the 30 years, 50 per cent of the time. I have seen a lot of changes, growth in the company. We have had technology changes, and product changes and offerings.”

In Australia, we became market leaders in certain things we decided to deliver, including the first five-year, full warranty program, and our Roland Rental program, thanks to Ecolease, and Marrian Taggart-Holland, who has been a partner for more than 10 years.”

The event followed on from recent wins for the TrueVis VG series from the Keypoint Intelligence Buyer’s Lab (BLI) awards, including Outstanding Enhanced CMYK Eco Solvent/Latex 54″/64″ Printer (7-Colour) and Outstanding High Production CMYK Eco-Solvent/Latex 54”/64” Printer (Dual CMYK).

David Sweetnam, director, Research and Lab Services for Keypoint Intelligence, says, “This printer cutter is all about fast turnaround without sacrificing quality, as many of our test images exhibited neutral grays, fine details, and smooth skin tones even at the high-speed print setting. We were also impressed by the VG with 7-colour plus White ink, which produced the largest colour gamut we have tested to date and delivered excellent colour matching in our tests with an average of only 3.45 Delta E00. Both the VG-640 and VG-540 earned good marks across the board for image quality, speed, and the functionality and user-friendliness of their included Roland VersaWorks Dual RIP software.”
