Starleaton installs Zünd S3 digital cutter at Mezographic

Starleaton has just installed a Zünd S3 digital cutter at Mezographic, aiding in the company’s improvement of its business operations.

The move follows Starleaton’s installation of two Zünd D3 2XL-3200 machines with BHS150 systems at Billboard Media – the first installation of its kind in Asia-Pacific and only the second time two units have been installed in a single business worldwide.

Mezographic director Frank Mezo told Sprinter that the digital cutter is a great fit to its cutting fleet and that it has improved the business’ productivity since its install.

“The Zünd S3 digital cutter was purchased to add to our cutting fleet of three Aristos and a twin head Elitron. The main aim for purchasing the cutter is to specialise in roll cut media and to better do smaller fiddly jobs that would otherwise bottleneck production,” he said.

“The speed of the Zünd S3 digital cutter is phenomenal, and the quality and accuracy of cutting is perfect for small but intricate work. The machine is also known for its build quality and reliability, alongside its compact footprint.

“It will definitely help streamline our production and alleviate bottle necks.”

In a post, Starleaton senior manager for industrial products Dale Hawkins congratulated Mezo and the Mezographic team on installing the new Zünd S3 digital cutter.

“The Zünd S3 is Mezographic’s latest acquisition, adding to their digital cutting fleet as they continue to build more digital cutting capabilities,” he said.

“Configured with a wide range of cutting and creasing tools, the Zünd S3 is also fitted with a conveyor system and active take-up winder for roll media automation.”

The Zünd S3 digital cutter is a multi-functional cutting system that allows for many and variable cutting processes. With the addition of a sophisticated material-handling solution, it allows for the increment of production capacity.

One of the cutter’s key features is its speed – the basis for the S3’s productivity are intelligent control software, a fast drive system, and a unique cutting technology.

With modular tool and material-handling systems, users can tailor the S3 cutter to specific requirements. Zünd’s modular design concept lets users customise their cutting solution according to their specific production requirements.

User also have the flexibility to choose precisely the tools needed for the job at hand – the S3 can be equipped with up to two different tools.

In addition, picking and sorting of cut parts are automated with a collaborative robot, increasing productivity. The collaborative robot requires no guards or protective devices.
