Tasmanian printer upgrades CTP with Kimosetter 525

Whatsinaname owner and operator Robert Winterbottom told ProPrint that the company was previously using film and a Kimosetter 410 as part of its plate-handling operations.

Winterbottom chose to upgrade to the 525 thanks to its price-tag and pedigree.

“Cost was a big consideration. This was one of the cheaper entry-level models on the market,” Winterbottom said. “We’d also had a good experience with the 410.”

Winterbottom also said the chemistry-free system tied in with the company’s participation in Printing Industries’ Sustainable Green Print program.

“It certainly fits in with our environmental ethos,” Winterbottom said.

The Kimosetter 525 will process plates for the four-staff company’s two Heidelberg GTO 46 presses. The company also runs a Milford Astor foil printer, a Gestetner envelope printer, and a Heidelberg Platen letterpress.

Whatsinaname caters primarily to local small businesses, with business stationery and business cards making up most of its work.

The Kimosetter 525 system is distributed in Australia by Grafika Links.
