The program, which seeks to assist businesses in setting up an environmental management system in compliance with ISO14001 standards, recently received the ACCC (Australian Competition and Consumer Commission) tick of approval for the rules and processes of its certification standards.

Meanwhile, IP Australia has also reviewed and approved the branding of the Truly Green logo. The trademark is now in the final stages of registration.

“The ACCC and IP Australia approval of the Truly Green certification process shows that the course is not just the first comprehensive environmental management course of its kind for the industry, but that GASAA is also fully committed to ensuring the branding of the Truly Green tick of approval meets regulatory requirements and gains public recognition,” said GASAA executive officer Garry Knespal.

The association has also announced starting dates for the third intake of the program, with applications now being accepted for courses beginning October 14 in Sydney and October 15 in Melbourne. GASAA is also accepting expressions of interest for Brisbane and other cities.

By mid-October, 15 print businesses will have graduated from the Truly Green program, with Centrum Printing, Excel, Gippsland Trade Printers, Look Print, Printmode, Snap CBD Printing, Snap Westpac, and Total Print Control all currently in the process of completing the course.

Previous graduates include CDMPrint, Digitalpress, J A Wales Printers, Rawson Graphics, and Shepson Printing. One of the first course graduates, the NSW Department of Lands, Bathurst, recently obtained ISO14001 certification.
