virtual.drupa organisers declare event a success

The organisers of virtual.drupa say the event has done what it intended to do – bridge the COVID-induced gap so the packaging and print sectors could stay informed about new technologies until face-to-face trade events can resume.

In 212 exhibitors displayed their products and services at the four-day virtual event which attracted visitors from 35 countries.

The programme included 125 live web sessions with organisers saying on average 140 participants tuned into the informative demonstration and question and answer sessions, which can still be found online.

The event attracted around 600,000 page views with 45,000 unique users. Over 82 per cent of the people to visit the event were from overseas countries.

Messe Düsseldorf Chief Operating Officer, Erhard Wienkamp, said:

“virtual.drupa was implemented in order to maintain contact within the industry during the pandemic. The numbers demonstrate that we have achieved this.

“virtual.drupa enabled exhibitors and prospective customers to reinforce their networks, generate new leads and gather incentives for their corporate targets.”

Messe Düsseldorf Project Director Print Technologies, Sabine Geldermann, added:

“We are delighted about the positive feedback we have received from participants.

“The overwhelming number of global players – both in terms of exhibitors and visitors – has resulted in an industry dialogue that was particularly important during this time. The wide spectrum of target visitor groups, profiles and areas of interest was impressive. This also applies to the exhibitors and their product portfolios along the entire value chain.”

Geldermann also pointed to the excitement that is now building in anticipation of drupa 2024.

“Many participants are already signalling that they are looking forward to this industry highlight and the live experiences”.
