‘Workhorse’ ColorWave to give printers an edge

Canon says the latest ColorWave is a workhorse and allows printers to expand their slate of wide format services with a competitive edge.

It says Océ ColorWave 700 is cost-effective, space-saving and ideal for printers that want to offer new wide format services, such as posters and roll-up banners, as well as standard plan and map printing.

The roll-to-roll wide format printer can print up to 1800 A1 CAD drawings or 640 high-quality posters per eight-hour working day. It can also print on low-cost uncoated media or high-end specialties.

It is also aimed at businesses requiring a higher print volume, including reprographics, sign and display printers and in-house printing applications in industries like retail, hospitality, point-of-sale, education and government.

Product manager Haydn Wills says Océ wide format printers are ‘the benchmark in productivity and simplicity’ for plan printing because they can produce short-run point-of-sale colour specialties more economically with no start-up time or complex finishing.

“What we have here is effectively a whole business in a box. Colour and black and white are converging in our world and we are meeting that market demand once again by expanding our core large format capabilities to help our customers become more competitive,” he says.

“The ColorWave 700 offers a combination of plan, map and graphical application versatility. It offers high speed, productive printing and operational simplicity that meet the rapidly changing needs of professional print providers.”

Wills says, the new printer will allow companies to expand their services with Océ MediaSense technology, which lets them print on thicker media (up to 0.8 mm).

“Commercial printers can use it to consolidate their wide format plan and map printing along with graphical applications onto one easy-to-use system, which can replace multiple colour inkjet printing systems and improve efficiency,” he says.

“It is constructed of durable, hard-wearing parts and is supported by remote service to ensure high uptime with fewer jams, less downtime and fewer service calls.”

The printer is available now and will be showcased at PrintEx15 in May.
