Xeikon to show new dry toner technology

Xeikon has announced it will showcase its large format coffee table book cover and dust jacket production with its CX500 five colour roll to roll press at Hunkeler Innovationdays in Messe Lucerne in February.

The company, which supplies digital colour printing technology for the labels, packaging and graphic arts industries and subsidiary of the Flint Group, says it will use the trade show to reaffirm its commitment to dry toner technology.

“We are excited to show how dry toner complements inkjet solutions in the production environment of a broad array of high quality, high value and high coverage applications,” says Dimitri Van Gaever, Market Segment Manager at Xeikon.

“We are already seeing this approach work well for our customers and HID is the perfect show to further demonstrate the possibilities.”

Xeikon says the CX500 has the ability to help printers address key market trends in the industry. It says offset quality book covers and dust jackets for JIT book production is one of the many challenges this platform can handle.

“Running full speed high coverage image content on thick standard stock while keeping maximum resolution is an interesting value proposition”, Van Gaever says.

“But basically, in any application segment where consistent high print quality is critical, there is high demand for reliable and affordable production platforms, and that’s where our dry toner technology comes in.”

Xeikon says the design and technology of the press enables it to respond to a wide range of sectors including graphic arts. It says the press is based on a new generation dry toner platform that is ready for Industry 4.0. It features a unique web width up to 520mm and full rotary 30m/min printing at maximum resolution in a five colour setup.

The company says the CX500 delivers an unbeatable quality vs productivity ratio and uses Xeikon’s Cheetah technology, designed to cope with higher speeds and ensure a reliable and proven printing quality with 1200 dpi 4bps and proprietary screening libraries.

Its new operator interface features both interactivity and connectivity, and is complemented by the Xeikon X-800 digital front-end, which is unmatched in enabling consistent print quality in combination with industry-leading productivity.
