Screen claims, that with the new 512-channel imaging head productivity can be enhanced dramatically, so that the PlateRite 8800 can output up to 30 plates per hour. The machine for plates in sizes between B3 to B1 offers high-precision imaging and extremely minute halftone dot forms, as Gary Seidl, General Manager Screen Australia, explains. The external drum imaging device has the highest number of channels in the world , Screen claims, and enables the high productivity without the need to change drum rotation rates. This is possible by avoiding the need to power down the laser beam, so imaging can be carried out efficiently.
The PlateRite 8800 supports the use of 8-mm clamps and is therefore positioned for the use for web and sheet-fed offset presses. The automatic inline punching system (press and platsetter registrations) at the same time, immediately before mounting the plate on the drum, gives a higher accuracy than manual or off-line punching and achieves therefore faster press make-ready, Screen claims.
