Agfa Graphics has added an automatic cutting plotter to its Anapurna and Jeti wide format printer portfolio. The company has aimed the new machine, the Acorta, an automatic cutting and finishing plotter, at the cardboard, digital printing and signage industries. Agfa believes the Acorta will help sign and display printers to extend their product offering, turning a variety of printed rigid and flexible sheet media into finished decoration, containers and banners. Dominiek Arnout, vice president for inkjet at Agfa Graphics, says, “Delivering POP and POS materials is more than just printing on the right substrate. We are developing an all-integrated approach in which our customers can add an extra inhouse finishing step, all driven from Asanti.

“Rendering, printing and cutting in one workflow allows them to be more productive, more efficient suppliers with a higher return on investment for their business.” Agfa adds that the Acorta uses advanced technologies such as an auto recognition system; it automatically localises the printed objects and the position of the reference points on the cutting table, as well as the substrate’s height to avoid manual setup of the job parameters. The Acorta features cutting speeds of up to 102mpm. Agfa says it has a robust build and 40 vacuum zones that activate automatically where and when needed.
