Agfa Graphics cuts transportation packaging on Azura/Amigo plates

Both the Azura and Amigo plates already use Agfa’s ThermoFuse technology, which allows printers to drastically reduce their chemistry and water usage.

The new packaging design has led to further reductions in the energy used to transport the plates and the waste generated when unwrapping them.

Frank Van Damme, worldwide marketing manager for thermal plates at Agfa Graphics, said: “It sounds like little steps, but our industry is moving in the right direction. With Azura we offer a considerably cleaner process to our customers for producing plates.

“Now we have reduced the total waste of packaging-related material by another 50% per sqm plate. We use less inner wrap material, less outer box material and fewer wooden pallets for transportation.”

Two of Agfa’s major manufacturing plants were recently presented with local environmental achievement awards due to “corrective measures in favour of reduced waste disposal and energy consumption”.
