Agfa launches faster thermal plate

According to Agfa, the Energy Elite Pro features a higher sensitivity (up to 20 per cent faster) and supports greater variations in exposure conditions, adding that the printing plate ensures excellent tonal range and high line screen capability (1-99 per cent at 200 lpi, :Sublima XM screening, and 20 micron) thanks to the enhanced dual layer coating technology.

Dave Carey, senior product marketing manager, prepress at Agfa, North America, says, “Agfa’s advanced no bake thermal plate technology typically serves the high demanding printing environments. Energy Elite Pro is fast in processing, offers high image quality on long runs and is a robust plate hence best suited for demanding commercial applications without the need for baking.”

Agfa says that the plate’s chemical resistant second layer and the improved mechanical resistance enable longer run lengths under aggressive press conditions including UV inks, without the need for baking.

By increasing bath life, (up to 75,000 ft2) and lowering replenishment rates (50ml/m2), Agfa Graphics says it helps customers reduce waste and improve process sustainability. The company adds that it has designed the new thermal plate for use with a variety of plate setters and thermal processors including Agfa Graphics’ recently introduced high speed Avalon N8-80XT.
