Members of the Australian Institute of Packaging (AIP) are providing 1100 hampers to Foodbank, for those in need during the holiday period.

Around 150 people packed the hampers, including 800 specialised packs for family and 300 womens packs, with items that were either donated, or had funds provided for by the associations and wider industry.

In total the AIP says the hampers are valued at $73,000.

This is the seventh year in a row for the hampers, which are completed in a collaboration between the AIP, the Australian Packaging and Processing Machinery Association (APPMA) and the Supply Chain & Logistics Association of Australia (SCLAA).

The AIP says since it was established, the team has packed 6500 Christmas hampers estimated to be valued at $750,000 in total.
