APN and JCDecaux scoop massive Metro Trains Melbourne contracts

Metro Trains Melbourne awarded the outdoor advertising contracts to APN Outdoor for trackside and roadside advertising and to JC Decaux for small-format advertising signage.

APN will have exclusive access to MTM’s network of 270 trackside and roadside advertising panels.

APN has retained its current concession to manage 190 panels, as well as adding another 40 existing panels. It will also build a further 40 trackside “Super 6” (6x3m) billboards.

APN Outdoor chief executive Richard Herring said: “The development of new trackside billboards enables us to expand our current rail solution and offer more choice to advertising clients.”

JCDecaux has also secured an exclusive seven-year contract for small-format advertising signage across the rail network.

The contract covers a range of advertising formats including Citylight panels at up to 212 stations, digital screen concourse network, station domination and sampling.

It will install a digital network into concourse areas of the City Loop stations and inner city stations such as North Melbourne, South Yarra and Footscray, including the installation of a 103-inch digital screen in Flinders Street Station.

MTM business development manager Mike Luxton said: “We are excited by JCDecaux’s willingness to invest in new technology, specifically digital signage to build value and improve customer experience for Metro.”
