Aus Post rival Taxi Lineup grows

Private courier start-up Taxi Lineup is challenging Australia Post’s slow delivery with its same-day business parcel service dispatched by taxi drivers.

Taxi Lineup has trumped the controversial mail giant’s delivery times by offering one hour, three hour or six hour business deliveries across Australian cities, and since its inception in March the young business has seen impressive growth.

The courier service has sprouted operations in Sydney, Melbourne, Perth, Canberra and Newcastle, and says it has already generated international interest.

According to Taxi Lineup, the service is enjoying a weekly growth rate of 40 per cent, and its parcel driver network of registered taxi drivers is expanding by 30 per cent each week.

Chief executive Ross McDonald says much of Taxi Lineup’s customers have been printing businesses requiring urgent parcel delivery across the city.

Australia Post’s sluggish delivery rates have resulted in many private parcel services similar to Taxi Lineup cropping up, disrupting the mail monopoly the postal giant has held for some time.

Taxi Lineup’s success has pushed the parcel service to canvass the possibility of expanding globally, and it has short-term plans to launch operations in all Australian capital cities.
