Aussie printer wins global award in Fuji Xerox competition

Speaking to i-grafix, David Shandler, owner of Docucopy, says that the Color 1000 Press has bridged the gap between offset quality and digital ease of use. He says, “I have really got to thank Fuji Xerox for the Color 1000 Press. This machine has given us an opportunity to go out into the market and successfully compete for work.

Salvo Property Group and Extension Marketing engaged Docucopy to produce an oversized, high-end photo book to showcase the Group’s luxury residential developments. Docucopy’s book, printed on a Color 1000 Press, aided in the selling of 400 luxury units for the Group and demonstrated the best use of marketing collateral among the contest entrants.

Docucopy employs 16 staff and specialises in short run on demand printing, mainly digital. Shandler, who started the company 16 years ago, believes the quality of the Fuji Xerox printer makes a significant difference to his business. He says, “The quality is awesome. We can now compete with offset because we have a machine to do it with. The job that won the award incorporates some very black pages. Looking at it, you can’t tell the difference from offset and digital.

Simon Lane, national manager for graphic communications at Fuji Xerox Australia, says, “Docucopy’s win for best use of collateral is a great indicator of the quality of work that can result using the Color 1000 press. It’s also a wonderful achievement for a local company to win a global Xerox award in such a fierce competition.”

The contest called for customers of the Xerox Premier Partners Global Network and involved 24 countries, with entries categories of books, collateral; digital and offset; digital packaging; direct marketing; photo publishing; and transpromo.

Fuji Xerox adds the panel of judges were impressed by the innovation and results-generating applications that showcased the capabilities and potential of Fuji Xerox digital printing equipment. Judges selected winners based on business results, image quality, and use of Xerox technology.
