Australian Paper to raise prices

The company put the increases down to “ongoing rising labour costs and increase in raw material, including energy and oil”, which had previously been counter-balanced by the strong Australian dollar. The hikes are set to take effect in October.

The changes will affect its entire range of offset printing papers, including the Precision, Challenge and New Grange products.

General manager of sales and marketing Wayne Stanistreet said: “Paper prices have been on a downward trend for some time, though at the same time, our costs have been rising.

“We need to take some action. At this stage the increase will only affect the products that we sell under our offset range of papers, though we are constantly reviewing the entire suite of papers we produce.

Australian Paper supplies major merchants such as BJ Ball and KW Doggett, as well as its stationery subsidiary, Australian Office, which recently acquired the assets of now-defunct Australian Envelopes.
