Autobond buys Lamtex assets

“We have comprehensive manufacturing facilities at our Heanor factory and with the technical drawings and plans we have acquired we hope to be able to make all spare parts for existing Lamtex users,” says Autobond managing director, John Gilmore.

“Over the coming weeks we will be contacting Lamtex laminator users to assure them of continued support with spares and technical advice. We would not wish any laminator operator to be without direct access to help and look forward to working with ex Lamtex customers in the future.

“News about the acquisition has spread quickly and we have already been contacted by several Lamtex distributors from various parts of the world. We will obviously be liaising with them to ascertain how best to move forward in those countries to meet the needs of local printers and finishers.”

Autobond is not taking on any ex Lamtex employees. The company has been adding to its staff and facilities at the Heanor factory over recent months in order to handle the increasing number of orders it is winning for its industry-leading sheet-fed film laminators. Autobond is planning several major launches at Ipex 2006 and visitors will be able to see these in operation on stand 3E40.

“It’s been an incredibly busy time for us and January has been phenomenal in terms of sales. For instance, on the first day back after the holiday we received orders from France, Algeria and Tenerife, while last Wednesday (January 18) we carried out four demonstrations at our factory and won all four orders. An order also arrived unexpectedly on Wednesday from a printer in Israel,” says Gilmore. “I think the technology we have incorporated into the Autobond MINI and Compact series of sheetfed laminators is exactly what the industry requires today.”

Autobond manufactures sheetfed film laminators, both thermal and water-based, and is a major supplier of thermal and water-based films and adhesives, which can be used on most makes of laminator. The company has customers in more than 140 countries.
