Bellamy sells Bellmac Cartons

Michael Bellamy, owner of Bellmac Cartons, has sold the packaging company as he looks to retirement.

Bellmac Cartons opened in 1973, with Bellamy owning the business for the past 26 years.

Bellamy sold off the goodwill and equipment to another undisclosed packaging company. He says not everyone stayed with newly sold company.

“About 50 per cent of the people who worked at Bellamy stayed with the new company, with the rest of the people going on to other things. They were offered positions but they did not want to go to another place as it meant travelling further to work. One employee lives in the Central Coast and two live in the Blue Mountains,” he says.

Although someone else now owns the business, Bellamy is still happy with the way things ended.

“I am doing a bit of work with the company that bought the goodwill until the end of the year to make it a smooth transition,” he says.

Bellmac Cartons produced solid fibre cardboard and cartons for corporate customers who were manufacturing goods to be packaged, filled, sold and retailed.
