BJ Ball seals deal with CHH Whakatane

The exclusive nature of the appointment will enable BJ Ball, as a dedicated merchant, to add value to the mill’s products whilst enabling the mill itself to concentrate solely on the manufacture of paperboard.

BJ Ball packaging specialist Gary McDonald says the company is delighted to have been chosen to handle the CHH Whakatane range.

“As New Zealand’s longest established paper merchant, our association with the mill is the most enduring in the industry so the two operations are something of a natural fit,” he said.

“Following the extensive mill upgrade carried out last year, we can now offer a comprehensive range of world class grades, combined with the obvious benefits of local sourcing.”

The appointment will enable BJ Ball to offer a number of important service improvements to users of Whakatane product including:
• Extensive ex-stock range
• Samples and technical support
• Local representation throughout New Zealand.

Competitive pricing would be maintained, he said.

Mr McDonald said BJ Ball would maintain strong stocks of Natura in sheets, backed by a solid holding in reels from 400um to 650um. The reels, together with the conversion capability of the advanced Auckland sheeting unit, would offer additional flexibility to meet customers’ requirements ex-stock.

GP Box Board and Buff Folder stocks would be maintained in sheet form with any further requirements for reels or sheets to be addressed individually.

Other products such as Sherpa, Shelta and Blade would be supplied by BJ Ball on an indent ex-mill cycle basis.
