Blue Star grows NZ public sector print management portfolio

Its hub now includes 10 government agencies following the addition of the Department of Labour and Department of Conservation.

They join the Department of Building and Housing, Ministry of Social Development, Ministry of Maori Development, Ministry of Pacific Island Affairs, New Zealand Police, New Zealand Defence Force, Statistics NZ and Land Information New Zealand.

The printing hub contract started in February 2011 and runs for three years with a two-year option.

David Jupe, Blue Star’s New Zealand chief executive, said the contract had been designed to allow for the inclusion of more agencies.

“Blue Star Group is able to offer quality services in documentation creation, effective use of information and other transformation tools, and we expect other agencies will also see the contract’s benefits,” he said.

“The agreement is expected to result in cost savings in the millions of dollars over its term, ultimately benefiting New Zealand taxpayers.”

Consolidating with one supplier allows agencies to better understand their print services and thus find savings, according to Blue Star.

In Australia, Blue Star holds a print management contract with the Department of Immigration and Citizenship.
