Blue Star shakes up management

Blue Star is paving its way to further growth with an extra layer of management, promoting several key executives to positions of greater responsibility as it continues to fold new acquisitions into the group. Geoff Selig, managing director, will step up to executive chairman and lead the business, flanked by Webstar boss Warwick Hay moving to a group chief executive position.

Division heads will now report to Hay, as an extra layer of management between Selig and the day-to-day operations. Matt Aitken, print and direct mail general manager, moves up to chief operating officer, and will take responsibility for Blue Star’s manufacturing operations – effectively just adding Webstar to his existing portfolio. Darryl Meyer, Webstar operations manager, also earns a promotion to Webstar general manager, taking over from Hay at the helm of the web press division and reporting to Aitken. Guy Watson, business development manager, will take leadership of the company’s retail display business, a merged division of STI and Blue Star’s existing point-of-sale operations. Graham Morgan, head of acquisitions and alliances and former Geon CEO, will report directly to Selig as they continue Blue Star’s continuing growth-by-acquisition strategy – building on recent takeovers of iGroup and STI Lilyfield. The promotions are effective September 1 as Blue Star prepares for more acquisitions in the remainder of 2014.
