Bobst joins PrintCity as major partner

With over 40 companies around the globe, Bobst will strengthen links and provide its customers with real added value – particularly for the Folding Carton Packaging division as an initial step – through full membership of PrintCity.

Bobst, which was a project partner for PrintCity at Drupa last year, will also gain from the recognised ’connection of competence’ by linking into world-leading projects under way within PrintCity aiming to provide integrated process solutions to the Packaging Industry.

The successful launch of new products at Drupa and the world-leading expertise within PrintCity – the strategic alliance of more than 40 companies within the graphic arts industry – has prompted the group to join as a full partner, which will include representation on the executive board of PrintCity.

Bobst, which has its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, and employs 5800 people worldwide, saw its turnover grow last year by 21 per cent to €1.1bn.

The Bobst Group has a similar philosophy to PrintCity in that its partners complement each other through sharing their know-how when seeking quality solutions to ensure best business practice. The group’s worldwide service and sales network are underpinned by numerous companies and exclusive representatives around the world.

Olivier Gardiol, head of the Bobst Group’s Folding Carton Business Area, says, “We are delighted to become a major partner within PrintCity in a strategic move that will strengthen links with our Folding Carton Packaging customers. Through combining resources and knowledge we aim to offer them process solutions contributing to their success.

”PrintCity enjoyed a successful Drupa and has in place a structure, commitment and architecture to be a major representative force to deliver real added value to their member company customers.

“At Drupa we had a successful launch of new products, which had a direct positive impact on increased revenues for our group last year. By becoming a full member with active participation we are also committed to the long-term success of projects where PrintCity members are working together in commercial partnerships through integrating technology and worldwide expertise. As a first step we will be focusing our activities on to the Folding Carton market needs”.

Rainer Kuhn, managing director of PrintCity, says, “The participation of Bobst at Drupa was an exciting starting point, which added high value to the packaging segment and to our Hall 6 at the exhibition, where our customers have experienced best-practice to enhance their business. We are delighted that the experience has now resulted in an even closer co-operation, something we are all looking forward to with eager anticipation”.

John Dangelmaier, president of PrintCity, says, “This is a major step forward for PrintCity with yet another world-leading group recognising the benefits of being part of our growing success as a major force in the graphic arts industry.

“Bobst fully supports our ’connection of competence’ approach and will play a full part in the direction PrintCity is taking by integrating technology and expertise to promote added value to members’ customers”.
