Brisbane print owner Freeman in fatal accident

Freeman had been a director of TPO since 1987, a year after it commenced business. Glenn started his printing apprenticeship with The Recorder, the Port Pirie newspaper. Unfortunately, while he was working there Glenn’s right hand became trapped in the web press. Glenn had to be kept awake while they extricated his hand as he was the only one who knew how to operate the press. The accident left his hand severely damaged.

Following the accident he moved on to sales in print, firstly with Kingswood Press in Brisbane then with his own business Wards Quality Printing, which merged with TPO in 1987.

TPO is a well respected Brisbane printer. It has won many awards over the years, particularly for its environmental performance, most recently winning the 2012 FSC Print Services Award for Australia.

Freeman worked principally in sales and business development. Joe Clouston, his business partner says “ I’ve worked with Glenn for 27 years. It’s impossible to think he won’t be coming back. All his clients loved him. They’ll be devastated.’

Freeman is survived by his wife Susan and his children Nick and Samantha and his mother June.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday January 30 at 11am at St David’s Anglican Church, 62 Chelmer Street, Chelmer.
