Cactus grows by 18 per cent

Digital printer Cactus Imaging has seen a growth of 18 per cent on last year, and is investing in a raft of new wide format kit to further expand its capability. Speaking with Australian Printer, Nigel Spicer, general manager of Cactus Imaging, says the outdoor industry is booming and his business is reaping the benefits of that boom, especially during the summer season.

Spicer says, “We are at our peak and it will continue to be that way until the end of summer as people are out about and advertisers want to take advantage of that and promote their brands. “We see a rise in spending during this time of the year. We have increased our outdoor media sales by 18 per cent on last year. “The company has seen consistent growth for the last few years now and we do not expect that to end anytime soon.” He says while the market is growing the rise of digital screens is posing as competition, gouging some of the money. Spicer says, “The market is expanding there is no doubt about that but we are also seeing some movement in it with the rise of digital inventory. “The Outdoor Media Association recent figures show that digital now accounts for 25 per cent of the overall outdoor media revenue.” He says while digital is one of the elements taking a share of the market the other issue is printers entering the sector. Spicer says, “As we see the industry boom, we are also seeing competition grow. Everyone is getting into the wide format market; but that does not worry us as we have been around for a long time and have established good relationships with clients. “We also deliver good products and on time to our clients so we are not worried about the competition. “My gut feeling is that the market will continue to grow and for that reason we are expanding and should have new kit by the end of the year. He did not want to divulge details of the new kit saying that they have two major suppliers that they are ‘in talks with’ and a decision will be made soon. The company currently has a suite of HP printers including the XP 5100, XO5500, two six-colour XP 2700s plus a UV Turbo Jet.
