Canon appoints new director

Canon Australia has appointed former Australia Post executive Gavin Gomes as the new director of Canon Business Services, leading the B2B function and production printing for the region.

Gomes will assume his tenure in the beginning of July after holding a number of high profile leadership roles with Australia Post, Telstra, IBM and Procter & Gamble.

Gomes previously held the positions of general manager for business and partner segment and general manager for sales and marketing at Australia Post.

According to Canon, the roster change will see Gomes lead the business through ‘a period of transition’ and address the changing demands of a tough business market.

Gomes’ appointment follows Canon’s strategic business review which began in 2013 and has now seen four major acquisitions of Oce Australia, SUNSTUDIOS, Harbour IT and Coverga.

Managing director of Canon Oceania, Yusuke Mizoguchi, says, “I’m delighted to welcome Gavin to our team who brings a breadth of knowledge and experience in the B2B arena.

“A highly competent leader of sales and marketing teams, I am confident he will be an asset to our team and contribute to the dynamic culture of our organisation. We will continue to invest in diversifying our solutions and partnerships to place our customer’s needs at the forefront of our business.”

Gomes replaces David Klineberg who served as the interim director since his predecessor Craig Manson’s departure in December last year.

Klineberg is set to move across to Canon’s subsidiary Coverga as chief operating officer.
