Canon launches latest digital colour press

Canon has launched two new digital colour printers, the imagePress c10000VP and c8000VP, which it says take digital colour to a new level.

Canon says the digital colour presses deliver vibrant, stable output, maintain high productivity and smoothly integrate into existing workflows for franchise, in-plants, quick printers, transaction and direct mail service providers alike.

The two new printers are now on the market, with a number of machines installed nationally, and ready for demonstration in the company’s Macquarie Park, Sydney showroom, and will be on the Canon stand at PacPrint.

Print speed is up to 100 images-per-minute (ipm) for the imagePress C10000VP and 80ipm for the imagePress C8000VP.

Designed for heavy duty environments, the imagePress C10000VP can support a monthly duty cycle of up to 1.8 million prints. Canon offers replaceable operator maintenance parts for the new imagePress series and an extended lifetime of key parts, which it says helps to increase uptime and reduce the number of service calls needed.

The options for Digital Front Ends (DFEs), include Canon’s Prismasync and imagePress Server powered by EFI Fiery.

Peter Britliff, senior manager Product Marketing says after listening to Canon customers’ evolving demands, the next generation imagePress will take quality and productivity to the next level.

He says, “Integrating industry proven imagePress features with new exciting technologies, the imagePress C10000VP/C8000VP provides print service providers with the necessary competitive edge for today’s business.”

The imagePress C10000VP Series can run media of up to 350gsm. The latest impagePress printers new air knife enables the engine to run thinly coated media as light as 70gsm, suited for applications such as direct mail.

Canon says the imagePress C10000VP Series expands on the all in-line finishing available for the C7011VP series with a new paper folding unit and professional puncher, supporting a broader range of media sizes and weights than previous models. Additionally, a new creasing capability provides high quality appearance on half folded leaflets and saddle stitched booklets.

Anjana Maikap, manager Product Marketing, Canon Australia says, “Canon has already installed six units, with a few more in the pipeline. With a quality of 2400x2400dpi, the c10000VP is different to other similar printers on the market. It is ideal for booklet making, brochures, business printing, and short run printing.”

“We will be inviting prospective customers for face to face demonstrations in our Sydney Showroom and will have the machine on display at PacPrint in Melbourne.”

Canon’s PacPrint stand will also display the company’s newest invention, UVgel ink, and the wide-format printer using the gel ink which Canon says will ‘change the game’, the Océ Colorado 1640.

When asked if the new printer will take attention away from the imagePRESS c10000VP, Maikap says, “Not at all, they are completely different markets, separate from each other.”
