Canon launches personalised magazine for air travellers

Passengers at Heathrow’s Terminal 1 can select from a list of topics of interest and articles from celebrity writers, including tennis legend Bjorn Bjorg and TV chef Jamie Oliver. The articles can be picked from a backlit shelving area behind the security desk at the airport.

Four general topic areas will be covered in the magazines, which will be printed on the imagePress C7000VP: home and abroad, commerce and politics, health and sport, and media and culture.

The project will start as a two-week pilot as part of a campaign to promote the HSBC Premier Card.

It was developed by marketing agency Cunning with JCDecaux Airport, which owns media space at Heathrow. The project was negotiated with media company MindShare.

Fredda Hurwitz, managing director at Cunning, said: “Credit to HSBC for being brave in using such an innovative activity to bring its campaign to life.”

The project will be live until 14 December with the potential to be rolled out at airports around the world.
