CLB launches new print training

The initial focus is on apprenticeships at Certificate III level in Printing and Print Finishing. Pre-Press and Digital qualifications will follow. The company is also aiming to deliver lean training programs, both in short course and accredited formats, to help printing businesses operate more efficiently.

CLB made a deal with Melbourne’s RMIT University In July, to take on the graphic arts courses which had previously been offered by the university’s International Centre of Graphic Technology (ICGT) Centre. This will be shut down next year.

Gary Cobbledick, managing director, CLB told Australian Printer, “We are excited to be entering the print training market and have been overwhelmed by the positive responses we have received from a wide range of industry stakeholders.”

Cobbledick says, “Many people have asked why we wanted to get into the print training space. The reason is because of clients requests to do so. We also believe that there is a market opportunity for a high quality provider of print training services that is able to operate nationally and flexibly.”

CLB has recruited seven former RMIT trainers, Cobbledick says, “We have also recruited a few others from various printing companies. We are pleased with the calibre of the printing trainers that we have been able to recruit. We believe they are amongst the best in the industry.”

CLB Training and Development has four offices across Australia and approximately 100 staff in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth.
