CMYKhub makes digital move

Trent Nankervis, managing director, CMYKhub Melbourne told Australian Printer, “During 2011 there was a trend that highlighted some jobs were more suitable to a digital machine.

He says, “After discussion with some of my customers I felt confident that strategically it would help their businesses grow by being able to offer a bigger range of products or substitute additional products to what they already produce. It also gives our customers another option when thinking about capital expenditure and what jobs to produce in-house. They can either produce it in-house, outsource completely, or buy a smaller machine and just outsource digital jobs with major finishing to us.”

Nankervis says the HP machine is easy to manage from a colour perspective, he says, “The registration was best in its class and the print quality is closest to offset which was of high importance to us.”

He says, “The one-shot technology and EPM mode meant we could do a larger range of stocks such as synthetics, and also produce simple four-colour work at higher pace with a cheaper click charge.”

CMYKhub’s purpose built digital facility in Melbourne is around 750sqm and incorporates the CMYKhub head office.

Nankervis says, “We felt that digital needed to be housed separately as it has a different culture to offset and didn’t want super fast turnaround jobs to be missed amongst our other work.”

“A wider variety of stocks will be introduced via digital. We will also be offering all our current standard stocks in smaller quantities”, Nankervis concludes.
