After extensive field tests, experts talk about a ’ground-breaking innovation’ based on the so-called true-rolling principle which boasts a compressibility increased of 22 per cent and has a surface compound specially developed for alcohol-free heatset printing.
Thanks to the neutral feeding characteristic that ensures circumferential and lateral register fidelity, it is particularly suitable for 32, 48 and 64-page machines.
For sheetfed printing, ContiTech is displaying its new HC (high-compressible) line that consists of five products. The concept is revolutionary and so far unique on the market according to ContiTech: The traditional carcass with two lower fabric plies has been replaced by a carcass with “double twist” technology and only one fabric ply of a somewhat coarser structure. This allows more space for the compressible layer resulting in much greater flexibility, but unchanged elongation values and a compressibility which exceeds eight per cent.
Other advantages of the new HC line are the optimum balance between screen and solid printing, the very smooth screen laydown and gradation curve, an unmatched smash resistance and excellent suitability for printing with metal-pigment inks.
Printing blankets of the CONTI-AIR® MB (metal back) product family have a base made of metal and have been developed for heatset and coldset web machines. In comparison to blankets with fabric as the reinforcing material, they permit particularly small cylinder gaps and hence reduce frequency streaks when in motion.
To ensure maximum protection of the blanket cylinder during operations, ContiTech offers CONTI-AIR® METALBACK blankets with a purpose-designed CONTI-AIR® PROTECTOR FOIL. Thanks to its excellent adhesion, it prevents the foil from creeping – an occurrence that could lead to premature blanket failure or machine damage.
CONTI-AIR® MB product technology makes a substantial contribution to reducing press downtime and cutting operation costs.
To give users a better idea of the CONTI-AIR® product family, the range has been restructured and arranged according to application (coldset, heatset, sheetfed and package printing).
At Düsseldorf, ContiTech Vibration Control will be showing a new version of the automatic roller lock for printing machines that has already proved its worth in use on the Commander and Cortina machines of Koenig & Bauer AG (KBA).
The ContiTech Power Transmission Group and ContiTech Air Spring Systems will also be showcasing what they can offer newspaper-printing machines in the way of power transmission belts and airspring cushioning.
The ContiTech partner Offset Service Bollmann, Düsseldorf, will also be present at the stand with its own display.
A look behind the scenes
ContiTech is offering trips to their production facility for drupa visitors who would like to see how CONTI-AIR®- printing blankets are manufactured. On May 11 and 13, shuttle buses will go from Düsseldorf directly to ContiTech’s Northeim plant.
www.i-grafix.com readers who would like to participate should register with Jutta Freter before May 6 on telephone +49 5551 702 149 or by e-mail to service@contiair.com.
