Cynergy Printing latest to fold

Cynergy Printing was only established 18 months ago following the collapse of D&D Colour, and was located in the old Pensinsular Colour building. Peninsular went under two years ago following its insurer’s refusal to replace a flood-damaged press.

D&D collapsed with debts of $800,000 six months later when the bank cut its funding at a time the company was trying to expand, it had just moved into the former Scanlon Printing site, vacated when Geon bought the company from owner Tony Scanlon, which they then merged into Penfold Buscombe.

Cynergy owner Scott Wakefield was a former employee of D&D Colour, and took flak from local suppliers and printers who he said thought he was part of D&D, a claim he repudiated. Wakefield took on former D&D owner Bob Dunsford as his production manager, but Dunsford left a few months ago to join Paul Scanlon’s Printworkz.

Cynergy ran both offset and digital printing, as well as inhouse finishing and embellishment.
