Demand for digital presses growing: Canon

The company says research carried out amongst Australian professional printers shows that 20 per cent of respondents considered themselves highly likely to purchase a high-end digital press within five years.

Respondents included printers currently using only off-set technology, those using only digital technology and those currently using both.

The research also highlighted a growing acceptance of the high quality offered by digital printing technology, with 68 per cent of respondents believing that high-end digital printing devices deliver an output quality comparable to off-set printing, according to Canon.

And in terms of differentiation with off-set printers, 85 per cent of respondents acknowledged the advantage that high-end digital devices have over off-set ones in their ability to deliver quicker turn-around times.

Steven Brown, production printing systems group manager at Canon Australia says, “A lot of our research shows not just growing market acceptance of digital printing, but excitement about the collaboration between technology companies, the continually emerging workflow innovations and the new revenue streams that they can lead to.”
