EFI consolidates UV ink production for Vutek and Jetrion

The firm offers UV-cured technology through its wide-format Vutek operation and narrow web and industrial products wing Jetrion, both of which previously produced their own ink.

Under the plans, UV-ink production has been concentrated at the firm’s Ypsilanti plant in the US state of Michigan.

“The Ypsilanti plant is newer and is easier to configure,” said EFI ink business vice president and general manager Scott Schinlever. “We’ve moved the New Hampshire [Vutek] plant to Michigan, which also frees up more space for our hardware business there. It’s good news on both counts.”

He said that the single site was running on double shifts, a move which made more economic sense than having two plants each running single shifts.
