Entries now open for PANPA awards

PANPA awards for excellence in the newspaper industry.

The awards will be presented during the PANPA Annual Conference on the Gold Coast from September 6-8, 2004. These prestigious, sought-after awards are highlights on the PANPA Annual Conference program and bring with them great kudos.

The award categories include PANPA Norske Skog Newspaper of the Year Awards, Newspaper of the Year Technical Excellence Awards, Innovation in Pre-production Processes or Technology, and the PANPA Norske Skog Newspaper Marketing Awards

Recognising excellence in newspaper publishing, the winners of the PANPA Norske Skog Newspaper of the Year Awards will be announced at the gala dinner on Wednesday September 8. The winners in each of six categories will receive a coveted Newspaper of theYear trophy.

Excellence in development and quality in newspaper printing is recognised in the Technical Excellence Awards. The winners of these awards will be announced at the PANPA Norske Skog Newspaper of the Year Awards Dinner. There are six awards in this category including newspapers printed on double-width presses, newspapers printed on single-width presses, pre-prints and supplements.

The Innovation in Pre-production Processes or Technology award recognises an individual (such as a team leader or IT Manager) or team that has developed or performed an innovative process for managing information pre-press at their newspaper. It is a great opportunity for prepress and information technology professionals to be recognised. The aim of the innovation is to increase efficiency and must have been implemented (rather than be an idea or plan). A trophy will be presented to the winner (or winning team) at the PANPA Norske Skog Newspaper of the Year Awards Dinner.

Recognising creativity and successful marketing strategies in the newspaper industry, the PANPA Norske Skog Newspaper Marketing Awards will be presented at a cocktail function held during the PANPA 2004 Conference on Tuesday September 7.

There are seven categories in these awards. Apart from the website category, each has been broken down into circulation groups of under 15,000, 15,000–50,000 and over 50,000. Judging will be based on creativity, originality, impact and effectiveness. Specific criteria for each category has been included in this brochure. Entries close August 2.
