Ferrostaal brings greenest Komori to Australia

According to Komori, the ‘G’ in Lithrone GL40 denotes green, designed and built with consideration for the environment, as have all Lithrone models since 2004, having being awarded the European BG Environmental accreditation. Secondly, it denotes grand signifying the high performance of the machine.

Gerard Wintle, general manager, offset printing at Ferrostaal Australia says with the carbon emissions top of mind in Australia, the timing of this product is perfect. He says, “The launch of this new press further underpins our commitment to the printing market.

“The environmental benefits of this press make it a compelling proposition for the printer wanting to save costs and reduce waste. With the release of the Lithrone GL40, we have raised the bar to deliver a better product and service to our customers,”

Ferrostaal add that to produce a truly green machine, the processes and production environment must also be green. Within the Komori manufacturing plant in Tskuba, Japan, a zero emissions target has been achieved with the recycling of lubricating oils, and the use of solar and wind power.

The green manufacturing processes have also resulted in reduced energy usage in the handling of machinery and reduced the amount of secondary materials used.

Komori’s zero inventories production line was inspired by Toyota’s production system where manufacturing and logistics are aligned with suppliers and customers – a precursor to lean manufacturing.
