Finisher buys supersized Océ

Co-owner Tim Fletcher said the flatbed cutter would help the 21-staff company turn around jobs more quickly.

“Our workload has increased, the time limits have decreased and it is always an issue trying to find competent staff you can retain,” he told the ProPrint Daily.

“Having that machine might take the place of a couple of staff and improve efficiencies and generate work in new areas.”

Kelmatt has provided finishing for the Australian Open for the past 26 years. The ProCut will be used for next year’s tournament and will also handle general point-of-sale jobs, he said.

“There are so many things you can cut with it. You can cut things up to 40mm thick and can cut so many different materials. You can store patterns for future cutting, so once you create a design, you can drag it out and cut some more later. It will replace a lot of manual labour because of its accuracy and speed.”
