Fire causes $1m damage at The Bindery

Melbourne’s busy Burwood Highway was closed for an hour as firefighters battled the blaze which is estimated to have caused $1m damage to one of Australia’s best-known and most progressive print finishing companies.

Metropolitan Fire Brigade Commander, Colin Bibby, says fire crews took about an hour to control the fire. “There was a lot of paper involved, so it was a very hot fire.” He said the fire was believed to have started in machinery, which was destroyed along with paper stock.
