First HP Scitex TJ8500 printer in Oz for Cactus Imaging

HP says it’s Scitex TJ8500 offers one of the fastest turn-around times on the market. It uses HP Scitex UV850 Supreme UV-curable inks, which expands its supported media to include untreated, as well as uncoated synthetic materials. The integrated curing system requires a smaller footprint, making the HP Scitex TJ8500 suitable for smaller print shops and printers where space is at a premium.

“The HP Scitex TJ8500 offers our customers a unique opportunity to develop new revenue streams and diversify their businesses,” says Yariv Avisar, HP Scitex general manager & director of Asia Pacific.

“The potential to print high quality jobs, at high speeds, on an increased ranged of substrates, will enable screen printers and other print service providers to output jobs digitally from the same files they use for conventional production. With the HP Scitex TJ8500, customers will be able to break into new markets and increase competitiveness and profitability.”

The new printer generated a lot of interest from visitors in Shanghai, with several orders being placed during the course of the show. The first was from Cactus Imaging of Sydney, which purchased the machine in order to expand its services to existing customers, as well to help it win new accounts.

“The HP Scitex TJ8500 immediately appealed to us because of its exceptional speed and quality, stable print platform and utilization of UV inks, which will allow us to print on a variety of untreated and uncoated synthetic materials like Tyvek and Yupo,” says Keith Ferrel, general manager at Cactus Imaging.

“Cactus Imaging has a history of embracing ground-breaking technologies, and we’re pleased to be the first company to order this new printer. It is our belief that this will give Cactus Imaging a quantum leap over its competitors,” adds Ferrel.

Jiangsu BaiCheng Digital Film Co Ltd, based in Shanghai, also purchased the new printer and Luan Yuesheng, president of the company says, “We are really looking forward to installing the new printer, in fact, we already have jobs lined up for it!”

HP Scitex TJ8500 includes an integrated curing system that cures the ink on each revolution of the drum, ensuring that dot shape is perfectly maintained and dry prints are produced.

The HP Scitex TJ8500 is one of the fastest printers of its kind on the market. It offers three output speeds, depending on the output quality and application required. In Production Mode it is capable of printing up to 400sqm/hr at 336dpi, enabling users to print 140 1.5×1.8m posters per hour.

In Quality Mode the output is 200sqm/hr at 448dpi and in High Quality Mode the printer can reach speeds of 100sqm/hr at apparent 600dpi.
