D & D Global will receive no less than three Bennys for entries in the Environmentally Sound Materials, Service Booklets and Brochures (four or more colours), and Stochastic Printing categories. All were earned by D & D’s award-winning inhouse promotional magazine, “D&D &U” (issue No. 5).
Meanwhile, Scott Print earned two Bennys with its entries in the Stochastic Printing (Argyle Diamond Gallery) and Single Promotional Self Mailer (Fruits of Our Labour) categories.
Familiarly known as the Bennys, the Premier Print Awards are the oldest, largest and most prestigious international print competition, recognising companies which produce the best in print media and display a commitment to quality through their work.
The 2004 Awards mark the 55th year of the programme. Each year, hundreds of printing companies around the world enter their work in the Premier Print Awards in the hope that they will be recognised as one of the best companies in print. Many of them have found that winning a Premier Print Award can be a powerful tool in helping them to grow their businesses.
Premier Print Awards winners in 2004 will receive their statuettes at a gala evening in Chicago on Sunday, October 10. The evening is held in conjunction with GraphExpo, the largest print show in North America.
In addition to receiving their Bennys, D & D Global will receive two Awards of Recognition and two Certificates of Merit, whilst Scott Print will receive four Awards of Recognition, one Best of Division and one Certificate of Merit.
Sponsors of the 2004 Awards are Heidelberg, Kodak Polychrome Graphics, Sun Chemical, Utica National Insurance and Xerox.
Background to the Premier Print Awards
The organisers are already looking to the 2005 awards and readers interested in participating should check the PIA/GATF website at www.gain.net for more information. The Call for Entries will be available on the site at the beginning of February next year. Entries can be submitted from March 1 through a date in May and judging is generally held in the early northern summer with winners notified mid-summer.
Entries are scrutinised by a panel of judges, who designate the winners of Certificates of Merit, Awards of Achievement, Best of Division and the ultimate accolade – the Benny. The Benny is awarded to the most outstanding entry in each category.
To win, an entry must be flawless. Given this high standard, the judges do not always award a Benny in every category. Should judges find more then one entry worth of the criteria more than one Benny may be awarded.
Winners receive the “Benny”, a bronze statuette of Benjamin Franklin. Winning entries will soon be displayed on GAIN, the website devoted to the industry and the sponsoring organisation, GATF/PIA.
