Former owner buys back ailing Sydney printer

The previous employee that contacted Australian Printer – who asked not to be named – said the business had been “operating limply” since the administrators, McGrath Nicol, took over on February 17.

The company had been run by Michael Liley who bought the business in July 2009. Prior to selling the print shop, James Becker had run The printing Department for more than 20 years.

According to the previous employee the business began to suffer when a number of sales staff left the company to be replaced by less experienced sales representatives.

“A lot of sales people left and the new ones taken on didn’t have enough experience or enough clients so the business really struggled.”

However despite losing their job the source told Australian Printer that they had faith in the future of the business under the new management of James Becker.

They said, “I worked in that business for a number of years and I know James Becker will get the group he has retained back on track and the company will move forward I’m sure.”

James Becker was unavailable for comment at the time of publication.
