Founder rolls out high-tech software

The company has a firm focus on JDF and PDF workflow and has released enhancements to its JDF-enabled PDF workflow software, ElecRoc. ElecRoc combines four key technologies in an open architecture JDF-based workflow: JDF, XML database, PDF and the Internet.

At the same time, the company has put a focus on its 1 Bit TIFF workflow solution, which it pitches as a transitional step to a JDF-PDF workflow. In China, they have had more than 200 installations of the system, while drupa represents the company‚s first approach to the international market.

The one bit TIFF solution is aimed largely at Founder’s traditional market of prepress houses, says the company’s director of marketing in Asia Pacific, Johannes Lee.

Given the focus on variable data at the show, particularly on the buzzing HP stand, Founder’s launch of its variable data layout composition engine (VDLE) was a significant development.

The VDLE provides comprehensive variable data composition capabilities, the ability to use popular page layout programs and increased market opportunities for the fast-growing digital printing market.

Also new at drupa was the SuperLine advanced security pattern design software system that produces customer created designs that are virtually impossible to duplicate. These may be used to protect from counterfeiting any printed product.

Lee says that he sees opportunities for the software in packaging, flexo and other markets. The company believes there is an opportunity to tap a large market with digital printer and copier manufacturers.
