Fuji Xerox begins construction in nation’s capital

The multi-million dollar development will be purpose-built to meet Fuji Xerox’s business needs and will include a warehouse and office as part of the same complex. This will bring all parts of Fuji Xerox’s business together for the first time under the one roof when completed in May 2005.

When completed, 50 people will work within the new building including Fuji Xerox’s local sales, service and support staff for ACT and national marketing and contracting roles. The building’s central location is ideal for the support and service of Fuji Xerox’s customers and convenient for employees.

Ted Quinlan, ACT Minister for Economic Development and Tourism, says, “To see a company with world leader status such as Fuji Xerox entrenched in the ACT is a testament to our burgeoning ICT industry. In fact it cements Canberra’s position as a recognised leader in the knowledge sector.”

Michael Steer, Fuji Xerox state operations manager, says, “Following recent success with major Federal Government contracts, Fuji Xerox is committed to growing and expanding its operations in the government and commercial sectors in the capital. We are also committed to environmental standards and our new building will reflect our recent attainment of ISO14001:1996 – the Australian Environmental Management Standard.

“We’re proud to be creating an environmentally-sensitive building that will use natural light wherever possible and keep air conditioning and heating to a minimum through clever design.”

The new building has been designed by Dowse Norwood architects and includes a rooftop rainwater collection system and water tanks. The collected water will be used for grey-water plumbing requirements, such as the flushing of lavatories, and for lawn and garden irrigation.
