Ringmasters and carousels: Fuji Xerox Versant launch

Fuji Xerox has brought its new Versant 2100 digital production printer to the Australian industry with one of the biggest launch parties seen here in a while, complete with carousels, acrobats and pythons. Fairground Follies, a hall in Sydney’s St Peters, played host to some 200 guests out for a razzle dazzle night, featuring carnival rides, carousels, antique cars and nickelodeons, with acrobats, dancers, cover bands, arcade racing games, and comedian Peter Rowsthorn of Kath and Kim fame for entertainment. The company invited ten early buyers from every state onto the stage, including first buyer Snap Rowville which plans to use the Versant to transfer 40 per cent of its offset production to digital.

Minuteman Press Fairfield, Budget Mailing Services, Snap Rowville, Snap Dandenong, Kwik Kopy Penrith, Vivid Print, Cessnock Print Place, Indie Print, Dinkums The Copy Centre and Same Day Printing are all early bird purchasers. The 2100 is Fuji Xerox’s assault on the crowded mid-range digital production market and is the latest in a raft of recent product launches by big digital manufacturers. Chris Irick, worldwide product marketing manager with Xerox Corp says the Versant 2100 is a 100ppm printer built from the ground up to deliver flexibility, productivity, quality, consistency and reliability for commercial printers, copy shops, franchises and digital printers. It has been designed from new to fill the niche between Xerox’s C75/J75 light production series and the Color 800, and is aimed at producing personalised communications, brochures, photo publishing opportunities and specialty products, for printers with average monthly volumes of 75,000 to 250,000. The machine will fire out 100 A4 pages a minute, or 52 A3 sized, in stock eights of 52gsm to 350gsm.
