Galley Club call for 2010 awards entries

Books, periodicals and non-standard items published between January 1 2009 and December 31 2009 where the major creative content is of Australian origin, are eligible for consideration. Entries can be submitted by completing an on-line nomination form and by sending in a mint hard copy of the entry as well as an electronic image of cover.

Entries are judged on the function and quality of their design, production, pre-press, printing and binding in accordance with established industry guidelines. Awards are presented for each winning publication.

Commenting on the 2010 awards, Michael Schulz, Galley Club president says, “This year we are expecting significant growth in the digital entries. While traditional publishing s always strong we hope to see them alongside some quality digital work.”

Organisers say that only publications in mint condition should be entered. The judges will not be required to commend books for any category in which, in their opinion, the entries do not meet the required standards. The decision of the judges is final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Schulz continues, “The awards are easy to enter and they are worth your while as it’s a good exercise to compete with your peers and at the end of the day an award is always a good thing.”

The deadline for entries is Thursday June, 3 2010.
